Bird in the Brush

This past week I have been working on some very large puzzle pieces. I sanded the piece, applied a coat of white gesso and wanted to lay down a mask and spray some color mists. However, I forgot that most of the mists and sprays need an absorbant surface so I had to trash that idea and went to acrylic paints to add color and texture. The bronze color you see is actually a bright shiny foil film.

One other mistake . . . when I went to add the leaf background to the back of the piece, I accidentally placed the puzzle piece face down. I was sure I had ruined it. However, I liked the leaf effect; it made the bird fit the theme better.

Some mistakes work out well in the end. I surely didn't want to sand and start over from the beginning.

The dandelions are rub-ons.

Thank you for your comment on my blog about my digital art piece. I had so much fun creating it. I had a hard time figuring out where on your blog to leave a comment because I liked so much. I loved your background for the group it was so cleverly done. I decided to leave a post here because this piece just spoke to me. I really like what you did. Thank you for sharing.
