Grungy Monday - Adirondak Alcohol Inks

From the original release of Ranger's alcohol inks, I became addicted.  The results have never disappointed me  and it is so fun to experiment with them.  This week Linda at Studio L3 selected a Tim Holtz video from many on the Ranger web site for the Grungy Monday challenge.  Yes....Adirondak alcohol inks.  I hope you will check out the video and visit Studio L3 to see the other submissions.

Designing DIVAS June Project

Renee has recently rekindled her passion for watercolor art and made several sheets of watercolor washes for us to use for our cards.  She brought a variety of stamps for us to experiment with and I chose butterflies and dragonflies.  The project was very similar to the spotlight technique except instead of coloring the second stamped image, we stamped it on the watercolor washes, punched out shapes and pasted them over our card.  The results were amazingly beautiful.  Thanks, Renee, for a terrific project and I look forward to attending your watercolor art show.

Grungy Monday - Batik Tim Style

Surprise!  I actually made two cards for this week's Grungy Monday challenge at Studio L3.  We were to use Tim Holtz' technique for what I call faux batik.  It is one of my favorite techniques that Tim demos.  I used a "pear" theme for both cards and three or four Distressed Inks in various colors. 

Grungy Monday - TH Disdressed Inks

We have been using products by Tim Holtz for our Grungy Monday projects at Studio L3.  This week we were to create an item using Tim's distressed inks.  I have been so intrigued with the cardboard tags that Valerie has shared on  her blog that I had to give them a try.

I used clear gesso to coat the stripped cardboard and then applied Tim's distressed inks by swiping various colors of the ink pads across the cardboard and using some of his Distressed Stains down the sides.  I also swiped the top surface with glue and adhered gold leafing flakes.  When the base was finished, I sprayed it with a fixative before I added the elements.
