PUPPY liked my card

This afternoon I was making several birthday cards and set them up on my bookcase thinking they would be out of reach and safe from a very big and active puppy.

As it turned out she liked it too and who knows what happend to the ribbon.

TRY, TRY AGAIN....

Drats! It just isn't my day.

On a personal note, it was a lot of fun being on her Design Team. I became acquainted with some terrific artists who carried me along and taught me so much. It was a wonderful opportunity for me and I treasure the friendships. I look forward to the future and will tag along on Inka's new path looking forward to more of her fabulous creations.

Spring Flowers

The spring bulbs have been so pretty after such a long winter. They have energized me and I created this card with them in mind. I used distress inks for the tulips on watercolor paper. The card is much prettier in real life as I tipped the edges of the tulips in shades of gold using Twinkling H2Os. The word stamp naming numerous flowers was overstamped in black after first stamping on a piece of scrap paper. (The tulips were covered with a mask.) The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, Script.

Finally SPRING

Yesterday and this mornning I worked in our yard trimming rose bushes and enjoying the beautiful spring colors. I happened to look up and saw the gorgeous blossoms on our plum tree. Thus a new header for my blog.

Bulletin Board Project

At the Designing Divas Club Meeting on Monday, we created a bulletin board using a baking sheet as the base. Deb and Mindi presented the project along with all of the supplies to customize it from color selection to the flowers, cork, pad and pen.

I left club without attaching the elements because I wanted to add alcohol ink around the edges of the metal tin. I have very light walls in my kitchen and I wanted more contrast. The picture above was taken as the bulletin board hangs. It really adds a lot to a very blank wall.

Plus, it is convenient because the club schedule is attached to the cork using fancy pins that we also made. There is sufficient room to attach other little notes and put a favorite picture in the little frame.

This was a terrific project.

Inka Stamps

As you know I am on the design team for Inka Stamps. Inka makes beautiful jewelry and is an expert when it comes to soddering. On the right is a photo of a pendant she recently made for me. Isn't it precious!

ARTISTIC SOULS

Friday was our monthly meeting of a small local stamp club and we decided it would be great to give our club a name. We are now the ARTISTIC SOULS. We don't limit ourselves to card making and, therefore, we required a name that would cover all facets of art including but not limited to mixed media, jewelry, altered projects and creating cards.


We are currently doing a swap using a rubber stamp that rotates from member to member until everyone has made a card using the image. We make a card for each member and it is really fun to see how each person interprets the design. The photo on the left shows the stamp required to create the card below. If you look at it closely it has some form of text which could be Latin.

Barb C individualized cards for each member and they were a hoot! Mine (below) was called "cheerleader." Pretty clever don't you think. I have a month to come up with a card using this rubber stamp. Following Barb is going to be difficult. I'm open to suggestions.





Judy J had given each of us a blank clipboard that we were to alter and bring to swap on Friday. It was a case of "Murphy's Law." Everything that could go wrong did. My spray looked beautiful until I attempted to add another medium and then the underlying spray bled from the moisture. It got to the point that I had no choice but to finalize it the night prior to club.

Another fun thing we are doing this year is rotating our location. We have one member who has opened her home each month because of her spacious work area. At one of our meetings, we got to talking about our individual craft rooms and how we organize our supplies. It was suggested that every other month one member would hold club and show us how she organizes her supplies and maintains her studio. Merine is so well organized and was a wonderful hostess. We even got to celebrate a member's birthday. I totally dread my turn because I had not planned to have a craft area per se when we built our home. Therefore, I have things everywhere. The good thing is I have a few months to get it in order. Mine will definitely be a lesson of how you should not set up your craft area. The only big plus is my art supplies are upstairs and with only hubby and me he seldom comes up to see what I'm doing so the mess is my mess, and I can live with it. There are challenges because items get lost or forgotten but also fun to find when I'm looking for a special embellishment and run across items long forgotten. The down side is locating an item I know I have but misplaced in one of my stacks.

Birthday trinket

This is one I pulled before sent so that I could scan it to show you. It is one frame of a three-part stand. I only filled one of the frames leaving the others for the recipient. The image is from a collage sheet, Easter Affair, at Inka Stamps and I merely colored the dress with chalk and added the ribbon.

As you can tell this one is for a dear friend.

Birthday cards

April is a popular month for birthdays for family members and friends. I thought I'd post a couple of cards I made because I received a new embossing folder and had to give it a try. All of the cards were similar in design; however, when I went to add them to my blog, I found I mailed them without scanning.
