Yea, another project finished.
The Latest Trends in Mixed Media has several workshops ongoing and I elected to participate in the workshop for Julia Andrus's new book, PAPER TRANSFORMED. The first assignment was to create marbled papers; and, liking all things oriental, I chose to make my backgrounds using the Suminagashi method. The result was a variety of backgrounds with a pastel marbling which was perfect to use for my fans. I didn't want the marbling to compete with the embellishments.
The assignment also required us to make a gift for Valentines Day using the marbled background papers. I was able to cut two fan strips from each sheet which I backed with pink cardstock for added strength.
The ephemera was mostly from Inka Stamps Inka Stamps along with others I found in my stash but couldn't identify the source. The fans are actually more faint than the photo shows and I'm amazed that I have two Valentine gifts made and we're still in January.

This is fantastic, Beautiful delicate backgrounds! The combination the background papers and the collage sheets lends a faultless effect. I couldn’t love them more :)
Ooooh. I'd love to see some close-up pics of the paper, too! How difficult was it to marble? I love the results, but I'm afraid of the process... =)
