When I cut out the bird cage and the little birds from white cardstock, it left the card void in the area of the die cuts. I just filled in the voids with colored diecuts and colored the background using a texture plate. I didn't want to toss out a perfectly good card. Since then I use only a card sufficient to cover the die eliminating all of the extra waste.
