An encaustic workshop over at Mixed Media Trends kept me busy this afternoon to finish my final project which you see above.
For the first step of the process, we were to prepare our substrate by adding paint and stamped images. Below is what my canvas looked like after I added paint and stamped images. Being a canvas board, the stamped images did not appear as dark as I would have liked but in the finished piece, the effect turned out well because I wanted the fairy image to be the focal point, not the stamped iron fence.

It was interesting because the natural beeswax added as the first coat to the canvas turned the lighter portions of the canvas more yellow. After adding the collage items and the verse, I added one coat of thin encaustic wax. The stamped images and collage items were from Inka Stamps. The "Imagine" verse was printed on velum and the faint floral piece on the right was a sticker.
REMINDER: Sale is still going on at Inka Stamps celebrating the new member of the Design Team, Cindy Powell.Refer to earlier posts below for details.
