Creating backgrounds using paints with paper towels

When I was cleaning out my craft area, I came across the book by Bernie Berlin for a workshop I did a couple of years back to create artist trading cards. I decided to add the book to my pile to give away and Judy claimed it at our last meeting of the Artistic Souls.  It was decided that the group should select techniques from the book and throughtout the year use one of the techniques from the book to create ATCs. Judy selected the first technique from the book making backgrounds from painted paper towels.

We painted them with Lumiere paints and whatever other brand we had on hand.  I wanted to make mine green thinking I could use them for St. Patricks Day ATCs; however, as the background dried, the green did not match the hue most prevalent in shamrocks and other elements I had brought with me.  Thus, I altered mine with a few elements that have been hanging around for a long time.  They may be a bit busy for my style but at least I finished them.

The most fun part was visiting with our circle of special friends, sharing ideas and catching up on individual events.   Can't wait until we meet again.

Great ATCs and a wonderful idea to use the paper towels, they have such a nice texture. Hugs, Valerie

I do love the texture the paper towel creates. Your ATC's though are awesome! hugs, Donna
